Shrimp Boat is about to go if it didn’t already... the owner sold last time I checked. And you’re right that whole area is next up. There are some really nice 3 story houses over there that are getting bought up. NE already underway with the north cap redevelopments that are going on.

I'm telling you! My sis and bro in law live within eyesight of the Shrimp Boat. I told them to keep the house as long as they possibly can. Trust, there's gonna be some cac or jew that'll try and buy it from them once they start working on East Capitol and it's gonna be worth a lot!

Shame tho, they move all these residents who been here for decades out and bring some white yuppie in smh....They decide they don't wanna start fixing stuff up til the cacs come in. Ish been terrible, rotting and falling apart for half a century, but NOW let's invest in the area smh....and move all the residents who have history there out....


They did the same thing with Georgetown back in the day. Ask some older heads (not saying you, personally, breh) about how the city was back then. They said Gtown was were all the blacks were concentrated. Then, white folk came in and moved them out and now Gtown is Gtown we know now smh...Now they doing that same thing in SE/NE, moving the folks that BEEN there out, and now restoring it for these new cacs

The 14th, street corridor in D.C is one of the most gentrified areas of the city. It was at one point in time the biggest red-light district in the city and one of the biggest drug markets in the city. By the mid-2000's many of the liquor stores, apartments, and porno shops have now been replaced by Trader Joe's, vegan shops, and hookah lounges.

There are currently 47 homicides in NW and there have been 17 murders in total on or near 14th street.

I'm not wishing death or violence on anyone but these nikkas aren't doing shyt to white people. I had a little boy tell me that if you rob white people then the police will come. That's how low the self-esteem of black people is.

I work with some older people who are from the OG DC. As in they lived on Constitution Ave and all over that area where L’Enfant Plaza is before the government ran the underpass and high rise construction through their neighborhoods. They been pushing black people out of here since the 60’s. And we all knew it and still sold our parents and grandparents homes for short cash and a place in PG or MoCo.

Ahh 14th Street NW...I can believe it, I partially work in that neighborhood lol...The Logan Circle neighborhood specifically. Despite them being gentrified, it’s not that uncommon to encounter fukkery at times in that area...Plus it goes through U Street and is the heart of Columbia Heights too.

Pre-COVID, that whole 14th Street stretch is a long ass party central thoroughfare of late night restaurants, bars, lounges, indie music venues, and some clubs. It can be a fun ass night out but you do gotta keep your head on swivel sometimes especially the closer you get to 14th & U where the fiends, homeless, and scammers gather inside and outside that dirty ass McDonalds.

Honestly when I saw the thread title, I was actually expecting the culprit neighborhood to be Shaw

i've only live in the urrea for a few years and you know how many fights / altercations i've been involved with or seen at that mcdonalds

I used to live at the Darlington from 2008-2015 and 14th street is the next street over. I used to do my grocery shopping there and I fukked with a few bars in Columbia Heights (Red Derby, Wonderland).. you could still get robbed over there but it wasn't shyt like it was in the 90s when everything was either hookers or boarded up from the riots.

I spent the month of October in Shaw, and I try to learn the history of areas I spend time in, but my personal experience of 14th street is biking over for HIIT workouts at a (black owned) "boutique fitness studio", grabbing some ice cream from jeni's and a meal from one of the many highly rated restaurants, maybe do some quick shopping at trader Joe's, etc..

if it weren't for the 7/11 and that McD's, it would be impossible to imagine that was ever a gritty area
