This country is polarized. Despite fumbling the Covid prep and response, Trump still got a large amount of support last election. If people don't care about their own well being and the govt. role in safeguarding their health, police reform measures and how they impact the well being of Black people doesn't even enter their thoughts. Nor will their members of Congress sign off on it. Or face political consequences for not doing so.

The laws are only as strong as the state justice dept.s and court are willing to enforce them. Have to start somewhere, though. Social media paints extreme EITHER/OR scenarios that don't exist in real life.

Yeah, the tweet in OP deliberately confuses public demonstrations with VOTES from elected officials.
Tweets, likes, and marches don't get federal legislation passed.
They can bring attention to an issue, but if there aren't people behind the scenes doing the heavy lifting, it's a song and dance act.

It's not surprising. If we're keeping it a buck, do you really think the previous administration would have pursued an agenda on police reform? All those protests only reinforced to Trump and company that more aggressive policing was needed. He had to be talked down from letting loose the military on the protests that year. He literally suggested that the military shoot protesters.

Time will tell with Biden if that administration chooses to go down the road of police reform, but I personally don't see it happening. He's essentially lame duck status his first year in office. Granted, Obama tried to an extent, but I have a hard time seeing Biden pursue anything with the rock and hard place he's in politically.
