I had a poster of the astronauts that were on that shuttle on my bedroom wall as a kid.
I remember that there was the first African American woman/astronaut on the poster she had a pretty smile.
Yeah this was an late 80's early 90's thing.
Just to see your own in that group on poster everyday was powerful.

yep I remeber this vividly - second grade - teacher was crying and everything...I remember sitting there like I remember that black guy who was apart of the crew too...he was one of the first African Americans headed to space if i'm not mistaken....
