Of course depending on where you live geographically .

But like here in Texas, everyone I know with 2 story house, including mine, either one part gets hot as f and it cools unevenly and it's hard to keep both levels cool without an insane electric bill. Especially now that it's 105 degrees EVERYDAY. If you turn your upstairs air off to conserve, it'll jump up to 89-90 degrees quickly. Especially if it's like 4pm-6pm

One story houses, even old ones are just easier to cool across the board.

The Wrong Side of the Tracks
If the house is heated/cooled unevenly, there's a LOT that can be done to fix it. I'd have to do a complete evaluation to figure out the issues, but, from my experience the number one reason that happens is improper air-sealing and/or insulation. The pressure and thermal barriers keeping conditioned air in the living space have voids and/or are not contiguous which allows unconditioned air in and conditioned air out.

Too much air movement = heating/cooling problems and high utility bills.

Too little air movement = mold/air quality issues.

You will get old

Yes u will get old. But considering housing prices can easily skyrocket out of the reach of the common man, u want to be in a position to make due with what u have. If u have a two story, and u eventually find u hate having to go upstairs. U can just switch from upstairs to downstairs. As opposed to going through the hassle of finding a new place.

I enjoy having two stories. Cooling isn't even that much of an issue, and I'm in Arizona. I don't think I'd go back to living in a ranch style house if I could avoid it.

It has nothing to do with 2 stories.

Its mainly the balancing of the duct work, how many units and zones you have.

I live in a 2 story with over 3,000 sq ft in the south. I have it on 72 upstairs and downstairs with no problems.

Ill be damned if I walk into my crib and its over 75 degrees in the summer time.

What city in Arizona do you live in? Do you like living over there?
