there's a documentary on netflix (forget the name) that explains how animals on earth like planets have to have things like limbs due to gravity. they have concepts of various creatures that 'could' be out there, keeping elements, various gravity and light rays in mind. its pretty cool stuff. wish I could remember the name, but it should be easy to find in the documentary sci-fi section.

Cameron and his team spend years designing Pandora's biosphere...coming up with back stories, names and behaviors for creatures who would get less than a 30 seconds of screen time. He developed an ecosystem that stands up to decent ecophysiological criticism yet dude is unoriginal
		
 I meant original looking aliens, as in ones that aren't mechanically human just ugly and super strong. 
 you're not gonna find alot of those concepts out there. What your asking for is impossible. The only alien i can think of like that is the thing.
