One thing that makes NBA media coverage bad is the disdain for where the finals are played

Trust, we are gonna hear Stephen A. Smith complain about spending 2 weeks in OKC & Indianapolis. That's not your job to voice your displeasure. Cover the damn games and stfu.

The NFL conference championship games can be in Green Bay and Indianapolis, but the ppl covering it wouldn't be on that bullshít complaining stuff.

This is where Silver needs to grow a spine and tell his broadcast partners to stfu with that stuff
David Stern would

And this is primarily a Disney (ABC/ESPN) problem. They DON'T DESERVE TO HAVE THE NBA FINALS every year. Silver should have slipped in some Finals for NBC in the new deal.

NFL championship games are in the winter, and people definitely complain any time the Super Bowl is in NY or somewhere cold. NBA finals games are in the summertime. Championship games are also one day as opposed to two weeks of back and forth trips. NBA events are often opportunities for everyone to network and get hoes, all the groupies are out, so of course they want them in LA or NY or Miami, etc. NBA media has a culture of comparison and complaining, the NFL ain’t going for that shyt. And lastly, it’s literally Stephen A as the main one doing all of the whining, and he loves basketball way more than football. And lastly, people are gonna watch the NFL no matter what. The NBA needs the bigger markets.

Not saying it’s right or wrong, just pointing out it’s a part of the show.

NFL media doesn't complain about cold if it's in NYC.

Now if it's in Indy, Dallas etc., THEN they will complain. Weather doesn't matter as long as it's NYC/LA/Miami.

NBA media wasnt nowhere near as toxic in the early 2000s, I didn’t hear anyone in the media bytching about New Jersey, San Antonio, Detroit Cleveland hosting finals and guess what them shyts are still the lowest rated of all time. Y’all overstate how much the media impacts viewers :mjlol:
In the social media era the media absolutely impacts viewers watching teams. You have whole social media accounts talking about they not watching teams because of locations including one of your Lakers fan accounts

Large market bias is not a recent phenomenon, social media like always just amplifies conversations
