You don't understand. Before integration, we were forced to do everything for ourselves. We had to open our own stores because white folks wouldn't let us in theirs. We had to teach our own children because white folks wouldn't let us in their schools. The community was stronger than because it HAD to be.
Once we got integrated into white society, we developed this sense of individualism and disconnect from our greater community and that's where things like the video in the OP stem from.
