It’s wild Jay’s not in there despite having singles with the biggest artists ever for 10+ years

BP3, Magna Carta and WTT had singles with Beyonce, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake, Ye, etc

BP3 was really close. Empire State of Mind went #1 (This is Jay-z' only #1 single by the way) but Run This Town peaked at #2.

I thought country grammar would with The title song, and EI.
I know EI didn't but I don't think Country Grammar did either. It was a different time. A song could be huge and never be number 1 back then. And it was still a big deal for a rap song to be number 1 at the time. As opposed to today where a song you never heard can be number 1 for 2 months :pachaha:.

did you create this list on your own?
Ie can I trust it :jbhmm:

As far as the 90s goes, California love and how so you want it was the same single.

Nah, I got this from the NFR podcast clip on social media.
But so far everything checks out.

California Love (feat. Dr Dre) - #1 (2x Platinum)
How Do U Want It (feat. K-Ci and JoJo) - #1 (2x Platinum)

Those songs were horrible IMO.

The Games contribution to rap has been forgotten too. It’s almost like he never existed.

Game only really had 2005. Documentary was huge as was him dissing G-Unit. By 2006, the biggest draw Game had was people seeing what he could do without Dre and G-Unit. The reults were mixed and Game was never really relevant after that point even though he was still dropping dope music. He's an artist that needed features.

If I'm being honest, based on when it dropped. I'd argue that "No Way Out" had the biggest singles ever. Puffy almost had 4 #1 singles on one album. The problem is he blocked himself:

Can't Nobody Hold Me Down - #1
Missing You - #1 (Record 12 weeks at the time, also the first Rap song ever to Debut at #1)
Benji's - #2
Been Around The World - #2

If you count Biggie's and the Mariah joints, Puff produced 5 #1 singles and 7 Top 2 singles in 1997. Of course Pac and Big did it because AEOM and LAD are like the biggest Blockbuster Double LP's in Hip Hop History. Em singles never really hit #1 until "Lose Yourself". Some of his biggest hits people would be shocked didn't hit #1. But "Recovery" did explode with "Not Afraid" and "Love the Way You Lie". Nelly exploded single wise with "Nellyville", "Hot in Here" and "Dilmma" were everywhere. "Country Grammar" had hits and sold more but nothing went #1. Outkast of course had two huge hits on "Speakerboxx/The Love Below". I wasn't shocked "The Way You Move" hit #1 because that was traditional Outkast. I still don't know how "Hey Ya" did it because that single was way out of the box at the time. But those singles are why it went Diamond.

Of course 50 Cent did it with "Get Rich". Both "In The Club" and "21 Questions" were huge. "Paper Trail" was T.I. most successful LP singles wise though "King" Sold more. That Maclamore album is still a head scratcher but it did have multiple hits. Cardi, Post, Drake and Maclemore multiple #1's were done more in the modern era so it came during streaming. Everyone else was Physical era so it was light years harder to hit #1 during Physicals. With that said, they all did have big singles. As people mentioned. Jay-Z got close with "Blueprint 3" but "Run This Town" peaked at #2. Also Ja Rule did it but it wasn't on his album. He was on 2 #1 Singles with both J.Lo remixes. It was on her Remix Album but "Ain't It Funny" and "I'm Real" were both Murder Inc remixes that went #1. Kanye got close with "Graduation". "Stronger" hit #1 and "Good Life" hit #7. Also on "808s", "Love Lockdown" hit #2 and "Heatless" hit #3. For the most part, Rappers have always had a hard time topping the Hot 100 because that's mostly a Pop chart.
