No one is inherently violent based on race. Poverty breeds violence. They are however out to kill their own. Stats back that up.

its still unrealistic for me just based on my experience growing up in the hood around thugs man....unless the thug already had some type of pro blackness bout them, many of them really don't give a damn, they killing/robbing anybody in this dog eat dog world (usually blacks since they live next to em)...the NOI seem to recruit a mix of former thugs and regular cats and train them tho

which brings me to this question, what exactly are the NOI doing?

I think blacks should be the most pro gun demographic in this country, and every time a tragedy like this happens, that belief is reinforced. If MB's hands were up in surrender when the cop shot him, one of the witnesses should have blew Wilson away... right there on the spot.

3 Problems with that. They aren't that much thugs left, only fake wanna be thugs out there which is reason number 2. 3rd many thugs only look for weak prey not necessarily strong opposition,this is why when cops come they are always docile and concede to their bidding.

If you've read Stokley, he talks a lot about how these individuals are the ones that need to be reached at all costs. Because not only do they have a very intimate understanding of poverty and being disadvantaged in this country, they also have nothing to lose and everything to gain unlike middle or upper class blacks that have their favorable lifestyle to maintain. It's a reason why Pac was a very dangerous individual, you can't be of the struggle, conscious of it, and willing to speak on it without being a threat to mainstream society. Its the ones at the bottom with the most incentive to bring change but without any focus or knowledge that energy is turned inward into more destructive behavior.

But honestly, I agree with this sentiment. Them nikkaz in the hood are our warriors, and this system has done a fantastic job of corrupting them and turning them against us and themselves.

Alot of these thugs began just as that.

The Black P Stone Nation, the Vice Lords and Latin Kings began as Neighborhood protection.

Black P Stone Nation,VLs,and Latin Kings are still sort of neighborhood protection and do things for the community.

The CVL's were derailed by the Mayor and police though. Before that, the Vice Lords were really gettin things done. That was the only street gang that I can think of that actually made the transition from the criminal element to community protectors.

It was other street gangs doing it too,nikkas in the Chi would tell you how the GDs and Stones had done some stuff for the community and have a good grounding.

This ain't the first time I have seen a thread that made this dim-witted suggestion. Relying on thugs to protect our community is one of the reason why many black neighborhood had crumbled in post civil rights era. We shall seek people who want the best for their people to secure our neighborhood and connect with progressive leaders to rebuild infrastructure and set plans for economic prosperity. We can also encourage self-defense with martial arts lesson and firearm training. Many things could accomplished in many urban communities without resorting to beg street hoodlums for security.
