The same reason people go to the gym and eat junk food.

I'm not saying it's right, but we have an image of what is right/healthy (we might even enjoy it). That image is incompatible with what we crave so you get half-steps.

Discipline is an important skill. Writing this sentence got me thinking. People like Matt Barnes obviously don't lack discipline otherwise they wouldn't be where they are. The discipline they put in mastering their craft is possibly the reason for cutting loose in other areas.
