:ohhh: strangely enough, i agree. I like rpg's and open world games, but some thier novelty wears off (far cry 3, skyrim, etc.) even red dead redemption got boring after awhile:what:

I disagree. Some of the most fun I've had this gen are from games that had fun mechanics and large worlds for me to play around in.

Assasins creed, skyrim, far cry, state of decay, mass effect, just cause, dragons dogma, red dead, Forza horizon, Darksiders, just to name a few, were far better than the linear games in my opinion.

Next gen it looks like they are taking everything "open world":ahh: you movie gamers are gonna be :sadbron:

:why: where the hell did you get that from? A few open world games shown at E3? Sit down somewhere.

I said EXCLUDING GTA, Rock* open world games, Skyrim/Fallout. A few runner ups could be included but the majority of the time I've felt some games that have open world elements feel tacked on and "me too". Tomb Raider and Far Cry 3 fall right under this.

funny it this is the exact opposite for me. as a casual gamer now, open world games are better for me to play around with, get bored, in go on with my life:manny:

there's a lot of upcoming open world games :whew:

GTA5
Watch Dogs
The Division
MGS5
The Witcher 3
Dead Rising 3
DayZ

Far Cry was always 'open world' though

I feel like the Infamous series was one of the worst at this. Nothing you did in the actual game had a real overall effect on the story until the very end of the game.

Arkham City didn't feel "open world" to me. shyt was pretty small, and I felt like everything took place at a handful of locations
