Didn’t touch on the Nation of Islam and other social movements that left those naming conventions with us. He’s white , though so i understand.

My name is of Arabic origin and it was selected because my father early in his life was involved with the NOI.

Damn near every Black nikka in Brooklyn or Harlem name Shameek, Jair or one of them shyts. That’s from the NGE.

there were aframs with muslim/arabic rooted names even going back to slavery times (Islam in the United States - Wikipedia)

NOPE

According to my dad (R.I.P.) that started way back in 1918 during the American occupation on Haiti. Some haitians became infatuated with the sound "son" and it just went from there. Read the spoilers from my post above. the generation before my mom's (now in their 80s) have a shyt load of Wesners and Jacksons first names in there. Also a lot of them are German names from when a lot of germans started moving to Haiti in late 1800s and early 1900s. Because Haitians refused to let foreigners own land in Haiti they would go and marry Haitian women and many german haitians came about that way
your right about SON.. also.. some haitians are american descent..... but the ER.. they are the dudes today that are in their 40's.. you probably know like 10 of them...they coincide with the "DIJITAL" era which many montreal haitians confuses as an insult instead of an actually FAD.. the DIGITALE went full DIGITAL..they were crazy over make names sound english..

You are either lying or mistaken on this one. No Haitian would name their kids Toner because of what it mean in kreol/French :comeon:

No sane Haitian is gonna name their kids English names like
  • Walter
  • Sharron
  • Craig
Many more but i cant think of them right now.

All those, when pronounced in Kreyol will come out sounding like things that noone wants to be called. Sharron for example is way too close to what we pronounce CHAWONN. Chawonn = FILTH.
Toner would be pronounced like Tonère which is a curse like when you English speakers say "damn" in Enlish. Again... no way a haitian naming their kids that. I can go on and on with many English names that no Haitian who speaks kreyol would want no part of.
completely :troll: thus the laugh

Exactly

My father would say "tonè krazé'm" about freakin 20 times a day cussing people out. I cant imagine a Haitian person in Haiti or abroad that speaks kreyol naming their kids that. I often play in my head trying to pronounce American/English names of people i meet in Kreyol to see if that shyt would. shyt be having me laugh by myself quite often when i meet people and they have no idea why im laughing.

The Son' names tho...them fukkas be off the chain with that shyt. Wikenson. Mackenson. Sonson. :snoop:

It's amazing how many people see those kind of names as 'Black names' despite the fact they're literally thousands of years old
It never made sense to my how black Americans consider names like Jerome or Tyrone to be "black" names. Like is it that these names got so popular among african Americans that the white Americans abandoned the use of said names out of contempt and racism? :jbhmm:

might be because.. and i kid you not.. but many of them irish /english names meant black or dark.. maybe it created an appeal

Donovan Strong Fighter; one who is dark brown natured
Dunn One who has dark complexion
Duwayne One who is dark brown colored
Dwayne A melodious song; dark or black
Dwane One who is dark or black
Kieran The name means Dark Man

even non-irsh
Maurice French name describing something dark
Merick A dark skinned person, a swarthy, a moor

100%

You can see Arabic names on the slave manifestos. I used to hate that the NOI would push that as part of the “Islam is the BM original religion” kick. Same thing with Israelites.

it literaly means DIGITAL...as an the DIGITAL AGE

it became a thing in haiti and fashion had to be all about dijital.. cloths, haircut, names...music...its an era VERY SIMILAR to the BAD BOY shinny suit era but with 80's mike tyson haircut.

its around the end of 70's early 80's so that why i said all those dude are in their 40's. so those dude just kept naming their kids with dijital sounding names too... thus.. the ER ending since well american represented everything digital to haitians.

lots of church goers in the 90's used to still dress a bit dijital here in montreal.

White people still use those names. The skewed perception is because most people stick around their own groups so they're less aware of the full spectrum of names either group has.
