That's not what happened. That's the front, but that's not what happened. Many of those mental health facilities were way out rural and wooded areas. Then white flight happened, and all of these suburban developments were being built out in those areas. So they shut them down, and put those half way homes in the now predominately black areas. Those homes ain't no better. Only difference is their crazy asses are free to walk wherever, in black neighborhoods, and aren't wearing straight jackets.

The one I worked in is still surrounded by acres of undeveloped land as are many others across the US. So, yeah, that IS what happened and why scores of mentally ill people roam the 'hood.​
