Don't kill me but 12 Years a Slave was not a great film. No, this isn't me being contrarian. It really felt like a collection of scenes than it did a film. Still pretty raw at times, though.

Hollywood always has this cycle of "ooh look, a film reminding us how awful we were" let's award it.
