we have our own award ceremonies that rarely get talked about
can't even remember the names cause we do a bad job at promoting them
and again SOC was nominated for best screenplay(the writers are white) but that film wasn't that dope

You guys are missing the point, entirely. All this "Why are you asking for the white mans validation" shyt, would be valid if we lived in a segregated society. But we don't. We live in an integrated society, which means that we are all working in the same entertainment system as well, which means we should all be up for the same awards and we should be treated and praised and judged equally. They aren't asking for the white mans validation, they are asking for everyones validation, because we are owed that as members of an integrated society.
