He wasn't lying, but hell, he has to keep up the charade and play going to class or just go to class in order to keep the NCAA off of OSU's ass.

what changes tho ? he tears his ACL and he has a diploma....which has coursework behind it he didnt do himself. rarely college athletes really have time to go to classes and commit extensively, even those who genuinely are interested in a good education.

I mean diploma helps while getting a job...but its not really a deciding factor once people realize you got the diploma by bsing and you really dont know shyt

:manny: hes right tho. student athlete shyt needs to stop. colleges should pay them good salary to play football and if they give them diplomas, give em in physical education or something..everyones happy.

if student athletes actually want to get education...let them be on the level playing field.

So just pay them and that'll solve everything, right? What about paying golf, tennis or wrestling student-athetes? What about paying student-athletes at schools like Murray State, Texas State or Utah State? I'll wait...

I hope everyone realizes that him saying "play school" wasn't a mistake.

Im not saying it will solve everything, but imo its better than giving fake education and fake diplomas, making athletes do fake work and make professors give fake grades.

obviously colleges will have issues with money. I dont give a fukk to be frank. so then lesser sports/programs, you can tell students: there wont be a free ride, you can be an athlete but you actually will have to study and maintain a real gpa to graduate.

which is what is already happening with lesser sports. the less sports generates for a school, the less 'tutors' you get and less attention you get.

I knew some professors who got fired because they refused to give 'athletes' a passing grade because they didn't deserve it. thats preposterous

i think it depends on what kinda attitude the player has coming into college. if he wants to get his education and he stresses that to the coaches he can do that. there are plenty of players who do both (Myron Rolle, barett jones and greg mcelroy that i know off the top of my head) but if a player goes there and just wants to play football than thats all he'll do and the coaches will let him do just that.
I remember there was this one recruit who's parents made coaches promise him certain academic standards before he'd sign with them.
