Saw the spring game, he was dope. But no way did i think they'd pass on Bell when he been in the offense for 2 years waiting. How are the OU fans taking it :mjpls:?

Don't know. I used to post on an OU board but I havent been back on there since the Riley Cooper thing and some of the dudes on there were defending Cooper and acting like it was no big deal b/c other players say it, etc.

As for myself, I just wanna see us do something different, offensively.

blake bell got friggin robbed, i dont care if some rs freshman has a terrific spring, you give the vet the first start and if he struggles then you toss in knight.

If I'm bell im out of there, many schools he could eat all

:rudy: If your beaten by underclassmen, you deserve to be on the sideline. There was competition and he lost, fukk that seniority shyt. It's not the 80 anymore.

I guess I can fill you guys in..... This situation was going to have a bad ending from jump. What most outsiders don't know is that Kendal Thompson was going to be the starter before he broke his foot, so most likely, he will be red-shirted. I, personally, feel bad for Blake Bell because I would hate being in the position that he is in. His first mistake was allowing Bob Stoops to con him into gaining all that weight and muscle to become a "Tebow." If you have seen his HS tape, you can see that dude can throw and run, but he lost all of his passing ability and a lot of his agility. Secondly, if this was the old Bob Stoops, he would have stuck with Bell and ended up with another 8-4 season. Stoops chose Sam Bradford over another upperclassmen because he had a gut feeling about Bradford..... and look how it turned out. We possibly have 2 transcendent, program changing QB's in Thompson and in Knight and this is OKLAHOMA and our mission EVERY SEASON is BCS/Big XII title or bust. It is what it is. OU fans want Blake Bell to stay but we understand if he left.

Check the tape on Trevor Knight...... Insiders are comparing him to Johnny Manziel(You can laugh now.... Ha ha he he). Contrary to the media and popular belief OU isn't that far away from fielding a NC caliber team and Stoops is betting on our new staff, adding better new and better pieces to our existing defense and this QB will make OU the best team in the conference. Stoops saw what A&M did to the SEC and now he's going to go for the gusto. People keep s**tting on Stoops but OU has never had a losing season under Stoops.... Think about that for a minute.

I'm glad to have you here bruh. :salute:

Good to have another OU fan on here.

You really think Thompson was gonna start tho? i didn't see it, maybe a year or two from now, but not right now. Regardless of his foot or the DUI he got.

You think our O-line is gonna be good this year? I mean, Johnny Football for all he did, had a great O-Line last year. As far as us being a contender, I dont see it unless our RB's surprise me. Damien Williams is gonna have to b faster and Clay is gonna have to be better, but mainly our O-line is a the key. And Is Dom Whaley even still on the team? :wtf: That injury he had just completely did him in it seems.

And I hope we stick with our offense from the spring game. The whole screen pass era at OU needs to go away.

The OU depth chart after the Red/White game was 1) Bell 2)Thompson 3)Knight......... Insiders were saying that none of the coaches were sold on Bell so this was a running competition between Knight and Thompson before he went down. I, personally, didn't think that Thompson would be the starter because all he can do is run from the pocket, but I didn't think the Stoops and Co would go with another underclassman over Bell. That says more about the incoming talent than Bell. Even though Knight played a little tentative(can't get any worse than Landry Jones..... Senior QB making Freshman mistakes and playing scared), the coaches feel that Knight has more upside. OU needs to continue to score because the defense is still questionable. Stoops can't afford to start a QB that has trouble going through progressions and moving the ball. Yeah, ok..... Bell had a better spring game than Knight but that means nothing when the QB's aren't allow to be hit. In the spring game, Knight did everything better.... More mobile, quicker release, goes through his progressions better. The players also felt that Bell had reached his celling. They wanted Knight to be named the starter because he has shown his potential ever since he stepped onto campus by torching the first team D on the scout team. The part I'm about to explain is gonna piss you off...... Trevor Knight ran the scout team preparation for the Texas A&M game so they basically had a Johnny Football clone to see what they were up against. Knight, as Manziel did, torched the D in practice and Mike Stoops still didn't make the adjustments..... He basically did a "f**k it and let's hope for the best."

Dom Whaley was a senior last season and wasn't drafted but signed a free agent contract with the Seahawks. Heupel prefers D. Williams and Clay(who doesn't impress me)and ROY FINCH should see more PT but hasn't because he has stayed in Bob Stoops's doghouse. Finch is the most explosive RB left on the roster but he's kinda bad at pass protection. They got 2 new RB in Keith Ford from Texas and Alex Ross from Jenks so they will be straight. From the eye test, Ford looks to be the better of the two because he's faster but Ross can end up being the stronger, more physical RB.

As for the O-Line, it shouldn't be a big drop-off, although we lost Lane Johnson. Hopefully with the new coaches that we hired in the spring(Bedenbaugh from West Virginia and Montgomery from Michigan)both lines will be tougher. OU is trying to not be so dependent on the "Belldozer" package and go back to basic power running and then add the "Belldozer" when necessary. The only question marks are will Gabe Ikard hold up for his senior season and can the O-Linemen that we do have mature quickly? If so, we'll have decent depth.

Defense..... The secondary should be improved because had a stud class this year. Hatari Byrd & Cortez Johnson are 2 names to look for. The front seven is the wild card. We are almost starting with a brand new front 7. Chuka Ndulue is the most experienced but is suspended for the first game of the season. We need these new DL's, DE's and LB's to step up if we're going to make noise. DJ Ward(another Lawton boy, moved to Moore for senior season)will probably be red-shirted because he's gonna miss the majority of the first half of the season recovering from his spleen removal.

Offense... With Knight..... Should do numbers as always.... Millard and Ripkowski at FB; D.Williams, Clay, and Finch at RB; J. Reynolds, Saunders, Metoyer, Sterling at WR(that list is endless, we got WR's. That ain't a problem.) and a TE corp that is about to be lead by Trevor Knight brother, Connor Knight(he's a beast too, check the tape).

Good season to be a Sooner fan.

Almost forgot..... YouTube Mark Andrews.... 2014 WR/TE commit.

:snoop: I forgot Whaley was a JUCO transfer. I've always been high on Clay for some reaosn....lol I dont think he's a feature back though. And why is Finch always in Stoops doghouse? Does he not practice well? But yeah he does miss blocks....was it him that missed that pass block against K-State last year and Landry fumbled in the endzone or threw an INT? I cant remember....

You're right about Landry tho, he did play scared(too scared to be a senior), never read thru his progressions well and if the pocket collapsed he was probably gonna make a mistake. Kinda bothers me that he pretty much padded stats most of the time and holds all these records despite J. White and Bradford being better players.

Yeah, I read that about Knight running the scout team.....I really don't understand our problem on defense against mobile QB's. And this goes back to when Brad Smith, Ell Roberson, etc even Eric Crouch used to torch us. And it goes thru both Mike Stoops 1st stint and Venebles when he was there. I dont know if they still preach the "fly to the ball" philosophy like they did several years ago, but that doesnt too work now in the read-option era.

We do indeed have a wealth of talent at WR, and I'm glad Jaz is back. Hopefully he stays on the field.....and I think Trey Franks is on D now so that'll be interesting.

I like Bob Stoops personally, but in some ways he's very hard-headed and resistant to making adjustments/changes. I think that Cotton Bowl ass-whoopin/embarrassment might have woke him up a bit. Hopefully......because he needs a good/great year this season to attract recruits.....especially after he made those comments about players getting paid/not being able to eat, and the story about the OU coaches bad-mouthing Tony Jefferson to NFL scouts, messing up his draft status.

Should be fun though and I like us not being ranked very high, so we have no pressure in that regard.

With Clay, he's a productive back but he could be so much more.... If you check out some of his runs.... He reminds me of Chris Brown.... Would get you 5 yds/carry but didn't have the vision to break off long runs(even when he has the space and blocking to do so)or went down easily after someone touched him. Now compare to D. Williams.... That 95yd TD run vs Texas say it all.... He has the vision to get to the second and third levels.

Finch has "Allen Iverson Syndrome." He stayed in the doghouse until this year because the negro didn't like to practice(and more specifically, hit the weight room).

Actually we didn't have that much of a problem with running QB's until the 2000-2004 Sooners left. Vince Young's freshman game vs OU was miserable, Eric Crouch beat us on a trick play, Brad Smith left MIZZOU as an inconsistent nobody. You're right about the problem. The main problem now is that our talent in the front 7 is terrible and they aren't disciplined. On top of that, the folks that wanted Venables out may come to regret that decision because Mike Stoops isn't doing any better than Venables did to teach containment discipline.

I never knew about the T. Jefferson situation..... D**n, that is foul... He had this bad games but I never thought he was one of the reasons why our defense was so bad. That distinct honor goes to Gabe "Bum" Lynn. I'm glad things are working out now. It looks like he is gonna be the starting FS in Arizona and even though he's being underpaid now, he'll get PAID next time.

Stoops doesn't like the media anyways, so the best thing he can do is close his mouth and focus on improving the program.... Not commenting on the quality of the SEC... Not commenting on the playoff..... Not commenting on paying players......... Getting OU back to playing championship football.
