That's part of the story but not the whole thing. Chicago hoods just has a gang culture. It's in the fabric of the city. shyt has been going on for a LONG TIME. Way before El Chapo was even born. But that's no where near the whole city. It's so fukking big you can easily avoid that drama if you really want to.

And Chicago today in 2015 is a whole lot safer than Chicago was back in the day. I think alot of this shyt is the media boosting shyt up. Not taking anything away from the foolishness because the shyt does need to stop. But I cant help but think some of this is to keep people scared while the investors snatch up all the real estate. Chicago bout to be the next big thing for those Cacs getting priced out of NY, SF and DC. Really ain't no other city that size in the US that has that type of urban streetscape that is still somewhat affordable. Just look at rental prices up there. You can still get a 1-2Br in an older building in a pretty good area for less than 2 racks. That shyt is unheard of the NY's and SF's of the world. Cacs love that walkable shyt where they don't need a car and can walk to the store, coffee shop...etc. That's the lifestyle these middle America crackers grow up wanting. And Chicago has that and the people who pulling the strings know that

yeah. If you're black and actually own your shyt in chicago, you will probably be eating a few years from now.

because once gentrification in chicago really really gets going, you won't be hearing about any chirac shyt. Because it will all be pushed out of the city and into the suburbs/rural areas.

Doesn't matter. As long as it's understood that black people are at the whim of the media-corps (And ultimately, American consumerism) when it comes to our public images. What I was arguing against was that nonsense ass "white people are oh-so willing to promote positive black music and images...it's just them damn nikkas only want to listen to violence" shyt, as though our youth somehow have some sort of monopoly on the music scene. If that's not where you were going, than fair enough. I've just seen this discussion on rap music devolve to that way to often.

bruh. in the era of facebook, twitter, youtube, smart phones...fukk the media, the shyt would be out there, we'd see it.

90% of the video footage that most of us saw from baltimore and ferguson came from smart phones and social media.

don't hide behind that shyt...show me some tangible evidence of us actively protesting black on black crime...and i'm not talking about a pocket of little old ladies or 5 or 6 people standing outside a church. but hell, i'll take that if you can find it at this point.

"Protesting black on black crime" comes in many forms that aren't an organized march. There is a lot of work being done by black people right now to address the challenges we face.

Just a last week there an event in Harlem where hundreds of black people gathered at a panel to hear "expert testimony on economic challenges facing the African-American community, submitted to members of the Congressional Joint Economic Committee and the Congressional Black Caucus." But if you're really interested I can give you a long list of organizations and individuals who do great work on black issues.
