"White men are producers—we are consumers. They build houses, and we rent them. They raise produce, and we consume it. They manufacture clothes and wares, and we garnish ourselves with them. They build coaches, vessels, cars, hotels, saloons, and other vehicles and places of accommodation, and we deliberately wait until they have got them in readiness, then walk in, and contend with as much assurance for a "right," as though the whole thing was bought by, paid for, and belonged to us. By their literary attainments, they are the contributors to, authors and teachers of, literature, science, religion, law, medicine, and all other useful attainments that the world now makes use of. We have no reference to ancient times—we speak of modern things."

"These are the means by which God intended man to succeed: and this discloses the secret of the white man's success with all of his wickedness, over the head of the colored man, with all of his religion. We have been pointed and plain, on this part of the subject, because we desire our readers to see persons and things in their true position. Until we are determined to change the condition of things, and raise ourselves above the position in which we are now prostrated, we must hang our heads in sorrow, and hide our faces in shame. It is enough to know that these things are so; the causes we care little about. Those we have been examining, complaining about, and moralising over, all our life time. This we are weary of. What we desire to learn now is, how to effect a remedy; this we have endeavored to point out. Our elevation must be the result of self-efforts, and work of our own hands. No other human power can accomplish it. If we but determine it shall be so, it will be so. Let each one make the case his own, and endeavor to rival his neighbor, in honorable competition."

Martin Delaney -- The Elevation of Colored People -- Published 1852.

-------------------------------------------------------------------

I guess Delaney was a "c00n" too? :wow:

If black people are waiting for a society that allows individuals to cultivate and foster racist ideologies unimpeded, one rife with covert and overt white supremacist sentiments, and the dominate society to somehow change -- we are woefully lost. This position we've been shoe-horned into isn't one of our own choosing. Obviously, it did not happen in a vacuum, either. Yet, ultimately getting out of this place is entirely up to us. Entirely! Either we will use our guile and resourcefulness to navigate out of this storm, or we'll just sit here capsized. This doesn't mean we don't hold white people culpable for their actions and eternally keep a mirror handy so they view their wickedness in real-time. But, if you think what's happening in Chicago is going to be ever be fixed by anyone other than black people, I don't know what to tell you.

The music is also problematic. Basically, we've lost complete ability to police our communities. Anything that can be perceived as a criticism towards black ethos is demonized and then all this mental gymnastics takes place. They were tired of talking about whose fault and such in the 1800's! 200 years later and we're still having the same conversations. :mjcry:
Best post...i need to collect more contemporary writers like him to my library.

People did everyday B. Just cause she was a model we care now?

But seriously i've given up on certain elements of the black community. The cacs are the root of the problem but after we handle them i think we need to exterminate certain blacks like these chiaq dudes. They need to be re educated or exterminated.

There are a lot of factors. Hip hop does more harm than good to people who have no structure in their lives and no hope. Hip hop is not damaging to folk who have a solid family structure and understand that it is only a form of entertainment. At the end of the day it comes down to parenting.

They need to round up all of these clowns and exterminate them. Wipe them off the planet. White on black violence is an issue but so is black on black.

RIP to that woman. Too many good ones dying young. I don't give a shyt about the bad ones.

1.RIP to her
2.If you're from Canada i dont want to hear your opinion about whats going on over here
3.How come when a single black person or a group of blacks do something heinous or ignorant etc its representive of all the other black ppl which coincides with how the media reports things..when that incident happened earlier this year with the bikers in Waco where was the #AllLivesMatter crowd then :mjpls:..They only started using that shyt to combat #BlackLivesMatter..When a white dude shuts up a church or school or movie theater you see white ppl dont feel the need to say "we need to raise our sons better or we need to do better as a race" ..Keep watching FOX news tho

Lol. Don't be ignorant. You don't need to be a US citizen to understand what's going on there. We have the same shyt here. Not on as large a scale but this is a problem in the black community all over the world. You think things change once you cross the border?

Stop excusing the shyt.

This. Which is why I really haven't jumped into this convo. I think everybody in HERE wants what's best for our communities. We just disagree on things.
This is a fundamental disagreement. Once you start off with saying black men need to atone for the actions of other black men and start using heavy terms you have opened up something large. Also notice how these people never have a command of the facts. They sound like they never once tried to study what is wrong. If the majority educated people on this topic of all backgrounds think op is an off then what more do you want? This is why some people never post in tlr. People enjoy their ignorance.

Definitely disagree that everybody in here wants what's best for the community

Any BLACK person arguing that we shouldn't even talk about black on black genocide, but instead we should intellectually masturbate about slavery and Jim Crowe, only wants what's best for themselves

Unfortunately these are the black people controlling the national conversation.

People have said the music is trash. People have also said the banning would solve nothing, the same problems will still persist; that we have to clean up the environments for true change to happen.

And it's not about being a pseudo PR rep. People could careless about RP but crime is crime. and people recognize the crime problems. The term black on black crime was created to marginalize our problems so we can't speak out against other problems like police related homicides.

So, Obama and his family was going to make people have money for college and for employers to actually hire them, so they afford to live somewhere better.

:patrice:

the term BLACK ON BLACK comes from black people murdering other black people - nothing more nothing less, this is a term that i've heard for decades.

again with this whole - "let's not make this about our community, let's make this about my intelligence and what i can teach you about the conspiracy against my people" <<< this is actually a widespread problem in our community and a road block to solving the problems. everybody wants in on the black genocide business.

and ultimately I THINK we want to get the murders to stop, the guns to be put down, it won't happen over night but something should start that process...right?

WHAT BETTER THING TO KICK THAT OFF THEN THEM SEEING THE MOST POWERFUL MAN IN THE FREE WORLD NOT ONLY LOOKS LIKE THEM. BUT IS FROM THE VERY CITY THAT THEY ARE FROM (chicago).

you mean to tell me that now all of a sudden the phrase i've been hearing my whole life "they need to see more positive black images" is now NULL AND VOID!?!? IT DON'T MEAN shyt!?!?

this is my point man...yall nikkas don't believe any of the shyt you're saying, yall in here grandstanding and really don't give a shyt about black people nor your communities.

"b-b-but i didnt suggest we kill them. you're putting words in my mouth"
You dont have to kill them to eject them. However...if this was africa, they would be killled. I cant say that i would be sad. There are those that can be rehabilitated and there those that can't. When a fruit had been partially spoiled...you dont eat it...you cut it out and you establish measures to prevent the rest of the apples from spoiling. You dont throw the spoiled apples right back in the unspoiled in hopes it doesnt contaminate the rest.
