wrestling fans aren’t well in the head. Even actual talent that are in the industry are the same (Bully Ray and Bischoff). It’s fukkin wild how many people turned on AEW. I’ve been watching since 97, watched the Big 3 and beyond, and never seen anything like this. Her run in Japan was most likely something to check off her bucket list. An extremely niche audience probably cared, but for most wrestling heads it's kinda meh.
I tried to give her AEW run a shot at the beginning but not wrestling for 3 months and her horrible promos left a sour taste in my mouth. She is beating everyone and who really cares about the belt collector gimmick at this point. Maybe it'll get better, but Tony has proven to be creatively bankrupt so it'll be more of the same from Mercedes this year most likely

Tony paid her a lot of money and brought in her own writer. She is doing everything she couldn't do in WWE. Cody came back and at least lost to Roman at WM 39. Has Mercedes been pinned in AEW yet?
She's a "star" in the sense she came from WWE. She isn't really over like that with the core AEW fanbase. I hope eventually she starts putting some other women over.

Don’t get the comparison to Cody because this isn’t the WWE. Cody still had to work mid/upper midcard before getting his shot. He had to be built up to the main event because he was midcard when he left and wasn’t a main eventer in AEW. And he wasn’t a champion when he lost to Roman.
