They're leveraging the hell out of the Aquemini anniversary, though
. Saw a new animated video for Spottieottiedopealicious the other day. It's still amazing to me that they never made a short film around it, back in the day. The lyrics alone were cinema.

Aquemini was supposed to be a MTV movie. MTV passed on the idea. They told Kast that they weren't on Busta or Missy's level. Funny, "Rosa Parks" changed that entire narrative and they became MTV staples with that video.

Originally, a film was planned to accompany the album. Negotiations with MTV were initiated, but MTV wanted to hire Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes, due to a lack of “star power” from Outkast. The idea for Aquemini was put on hold, but it would ultimately turn into the musical Idlewild, which was released in 2006 and, to this day, remains the last Outkast release.
