i read this book where the author spoke highly of overloading. overloading basically means lifting as much weight as you can possibly lift in the 4-6 range. he says its basically (ideally) 85% of your 1 rep max. so ive been doing it in every single workout and i gotta say, i have never felt as strong. im relatively new to building muscle since most of my workout experience has been about losing weight so i would like some input from some more experienced guys.

basically, the author says any other forms of sets/reps are just bs and that the only way to get truly bigger and stronger is overloading. now, while i definitely have gotten ALOT stronger, i dont see much muscle coming in.

what other set/rep formulas have u guys followed that have given u guys great fast results? i hear about all these other number combos like 5/3/1 and 8/8/8 but everything gets mixed reviews. keep in mind my main goal is stacking as much muscle onto my 6'3 frame as possible before next summer.

If u wanna get bigger u can do some low rep stuff, but I think for growth 6-10 reps works better

Also, EAT, you need fuel to lift and grow. Just don't go overboard, you shouldn't gain more than 1lb a week. 0.5lb/week is ideal

Theres no fast track to big growth besides 1)being young (16-20) and 2) being new to lifting... but you get a good plan, lift heavy, eat right, sleep right, you will grow for sure

yea i missed that 16-20 window. my numbers have been increasing at a great rate and im even doing pullups now for the first time in my life. maybe im just being impatient with the muscle growth but ive never benched as much as i am right now so thats a start.
