good rapper who makes good albums but nothing extraordinary on the mic. :manny:

hes a BEAST on the mic.

how can you say styles is nothing extraordinary, then turn round and try to gas up dj quik's mic game in the same breath?

He got some great cuts and his albums dope, but where's this lyrical BEAST you're talking about :sas1:

i'll play nice since i know you were too busy watching TRL when this dropped.

Everybody's heard this song - it's possibly top 2 most definitive songs of his catalog. It's a great song, ya. But this was your example of lyrical excellence? This is a beast? Your standards for beast are very low :manny:

I can't believe that's the song you would post, especially as an example of lyrical excellence. You would think you'd show me some better example deep in his catalog that maybe I hadn't got to. I'm saying he's not a lyrical beast and this is the material I would be evaluating that on, your job was to pick a song that showed he was a lyrical beast.

This is literally the equivalent of someone being like

"I don't like Kurt Cobain's voice"

and you responding - "How could you not like Kurt Cobain's voice, you probably never heard this *shows them Smells Like Teen Spirit* . . .

sounds like you just want some rippity-rap chit.

This is classic if you live in places like

Rochester, NY
Lawrence, MA

- small town-like cities that aren't major municipalities but have dense neighborhoods rather than commercialized infrastructure. Places where it snows, and people chill inside of parked cars while rolling up mid-grade weed in a Phillie or Dutch Master, while their breath is visible because it's so cold. They're watching the smoke from their breath while keeping eyes out for cops because their friend in front seat is taking forever to split the Dutch Master because they're never fresh. Every now and then they throw down on a smaller bag of Diesel or Haze, these are sold as $20's in small bags that came from a smoke-shop and look like they're meant for hard drugs

I just broke down the Styles P demographic for you, and let it be known I love those songs he's known for

compare Styles P to Nas - Nas is like the city version . . more stuff going on, more content to deliver in the songs . . faster mind

Styles P is talking for a couple bars about waking up after sleeping on the floor next to the dog

,. . . now DJ Quik on the other hand is talking about palm trees, low riders, night life, city streets -

Environmental influence

They really don't belong in the same category. Quick should be compared to rapper producers and now that I think about it he he holds his own like a MF.

Styles needs to be compared to gritty street lyricist like kurtupt.
