A python bit a Cincinnati-area reptile store owner and coiled itself around him Monday before officers removed it, police said.

The 20-foot, 125-pound snake bit Captive Born Reptiles owner Terry Wilkins on the arm when he was cleaning a cage at his Newport, Ky., store at 11 a.m., Newport Police Chief Thomas Collins told WCPO-TV.

Wilkins first got the reticulated python off him but then slipped on a puddle of water and hit his head, his daughter wrote in a post on the store’s Facebook page.

A woman then spotted him on the ground with the snake all over him, she told police in a frantic 911 call from outside the Monmouth St. store.

It’s wrapped around his neck!” she said in a recording posted by the TV station. “His whole face is covered. It’s like a 20-foot snake. I swear to God, I’m not f------ with you!”

The snake had wound itself around Wilkins in the blood-stained room by the time police officers arrived, they told dispatchers. The cops pulled the python off him and put it back in its cage, one of them, Lt. Greg Rapberger, told WCPO.

“He’s probably got a newfound respect for it,” Rapberger said. “It didn’t even bite me, but when I grabbed a hold of it, I had a really quick newfound respect for it as well.”

Wilkins was hospitalized but returned to work “perfectly fine” the following day, his daughter Keiko said in the Facebook post. The retail amphibian and reptile business owner “did not almost die or die as people have been saying,” she wrote.

:dahell:

“Please share this and inform others that my father was never in any danger and he is fine,” she said.

Reticulated pythons come from Southeast Asia, and the carnivorous predators may grow as large as 32 feet and 350 pounds, according to Reptiles Magazine.

Uh actually your father almost died had it not been for the passerby. He's very lucky to be alive. Believe it or not pythons are very strong it's how they kill kill prey by squeezing it to death. Shaq couldn't get out of it's grip if he wanted to. Just because a snake have no legs doesn't make it weak, they can move very fast and are excellent hunters.

Doesnt matter if it weighs a ton. It has no arms or legs for leverage to the ground . All you have to do is run full speed into a wall and bash its body in
You can not run full speed into anything with a python wrapped around you. Your bones will break from the pressure of it's weight and strength. There's no thinking you can do xyz
