Until you know someone who has mental health issues on a personal level, you're not going to understand how things could play out like they did in this case.

Real talk, you'll have an entirely different look on stuff like this if you have. People don't know how powerful peace of mind is... because we take it for granted. Everybody isn't "right" in the head, and everybody doesn't process life the same way you do.

Don't sleep on mental illness brehs, it's a real problem.

“If I was to make an educated guess, I would guess that Adam Silver and David Stern and the Rockets organization, some other owners in the league, GMs, want me gone,” White said in the interview. “And why do they want me gone? Because business is about convenience, it’s not about doing what’s necessary, right? It’s about cutting overhead… Being efficient. And a lot of times, what’s best for us as human beings doesn’t meet that criteria for business people.”

It's hard to feel sorry for this dude

Ppl underestimate anxiety. My gf grandma has high anxiety issue and it shows. She has insomnia and take a boatload of medication just to maintain. She already had a mental breakdown and became bipolar. Now she Aight I guess but still not completely. She functions normal but her anxiety is off the charts when she starts stressing. Her peace of mind is never an lasting state. Anxiety stops a person right in there tracks.

I hope dude get the help and support he needs. This shyt is bigger than dreams and aspirations. He didn't take the league for granted, he just couldn't use it as a crutch to defeat his demons. Dramatic anxiety defeats all other avenues in life.

If you haven't witness or experienced it you can't understand. Dude doesn't just have a phobia of heights or planes.

Didn't he refuse to go to training camp until demands were met then refuse to play when they bumped his loser ass to the D-League. Last time I checked anxiety doesn't force you to be a douchebag fukk em :camby:

It's not about his condition. It's about the fact that Royce tried to play the victim and act like the Rockets and the NBA did him wrong.

I don't know the entire story, but it's not hard to see that the guy has mental illness issues. So before you even go further, you have to realize we're talking about a person who's literally sick... mentally.

You're saying anxiety didn't force him to be a douchebag... but in his mind, in his world, he wasn't. He was standing up for what he felt was right. Now we're just looking at it from a perspective that isn't foggy... a perspective that's normal to most people. That's why it doesn't make sense to us that a 1st Round pick could basically throw his career away because he's afraid of flying. It looks stupid to us right? But to him, it was literally a matter of life and death. Dude feared panicking so hard from those flights that he thought it would kill him.

So honestly, all of the other shyt that you can classify as 'douchebagness' goes out of the window when we're discussing a person with a mental disorder. Because all of the outlandish shyt that may have been spoken by dude regarding the matter is all in correlation with him feeling like his lively hood is in danger.

Bro, the mind is a complex thing. I think people fail to realize what someone who's 'mental' is going through.

not to mentioned a big reason he was accommodated heavily at Iowa State by coach Fred Hoiberg. Hoiberg accomdated his every need almost and relationship with the two allowed coach Hoiberg to fully maximize Royce's potential while he played college

i have problems with anxiety as well so i've been keeping an eye on his story since he got drafted.

i feel like he kinda glorified his problems in a non-constructive way, and his twitter rants just drew a bunch of haters. talking about how he wanted to be a role model for mental illness or whatever.

anxiety can be serious though & has ruined other sports careers: dontrelle willis, ricky williams, etc

He's not a bust...Every NBA team outside of Houston knew to not touch him with a 10 foot pole..But from a pure talent prospect him not playing in the league is a waste.. People dont realize how good he really could have been...

they said he came into camp in good standing and agreed to fly with the team, he probably just wasn't good enough or didn't fit in the team....dude was a beast in college but that doesn't necessarily translate to the league, remember his main knock is that he's a tweener and a defensive liability

still how do you squander all that guaranteed money smh.....probably wont make nowhere near that through his lifetime..
