I think it will be the middle ground option because I have no doubt that other nba teams do what the clippers did and Balmer knows it and if they come down harder on him than he likes he going to unleash the flutes.
Right now this is a clippers problem but Balmer no doubt has the ability to make this an nba problem. Which is probably already is to some degree. I am sure there are multiple reporters digging through multiple teams endorsement deals trying to be the next Pablo Torre.
They probably give him a 4 million dollar fine and call it "the biggest fine for this infraction in nba history" which it will be but 4 million to Ballmer might as well be the fries at the bottom of a mcdonalds bag.

I expect big fines and large luxury tax penalties, but Kawhi isn't getting his contract voided and Ballmer isn't going to get suspended or forced to sell. The GM and the rest of the Front office might want to update their resumes, and Uncle Dennis might get banned from the league.
It's believable. I don't think Kawhi is completely blameless in this, he is a fuking adult and should be held accountable, but I doubt he knows much about the salary cap and ways to skirt around it. Uncle Dennis probably negotiated everything and told Kawhi that the Clips gonna pay him this much and hook him up with an endorsement with Aspiration worth this much and don't worry you don't have to shyt to get paid by Aspiration.

Great framing in this too where, even before he gets into the new evidence, he literally highlights the definition of cap circumvention in the CBA and how it can be "direct or circumstantial" and "cannot rationally be explained" which immediately shuts down most the naysayers acting like you need a criminal trial's 'beyond a reasonable doubt' standard before even paying attention.
