Over time I've grown to appreciate Pac as 1 of the greatest lyricists. His style sometimes overrode in people's minds what he did lyrically.
I lot of east coast so called hiphop purists make this mistake against anyone, anywhere or anything they dont consider "pure hiphop". I had a nikka in his early 40's laugh when i brought up kool moe dee, cause in his mid kool moed dee is "how ya like me now" and :"wild wild west" and he was hating. Till he heard KMD on i think it was ice t's documentary.

:what:why would you use Kool Moe Dee as your example? Dude is an east coast emcee who gets more love from old school hip hop fans than new school ones...

Because faux hiphop purists rarely give credit to nikkas that blow up off songs that are not "real hiphop" Yes I know where Kool moe stands historically. He's not the ideal person to use. But the story I told is not make believe,it really happened and i believe that's why. Like nikkas who try and downplay Jay-z's greatness because his claim to fame is not "real hiphop" records. It's singles for bytches and dance clubs,so nikkas hate.

I've always thought Pac was a dope lyricist, just over time appreciate him more and more. Moe Dee was ill, great lyricist.

For the record i wasnt saying you were a hater or had previous disrespect for pac. I WAS SAYING that alot of east coast purists (people who think LESS SUCCESSFUL east coast rappers/producers are better than everyone whom have done better than them CAUSE THEY "KEPT IT HIPHOP") try to overlook more successful producers & rappers and say they were ONLY more successdul cause of this or that and act like they didnt put it down. Meanwhile they'll downplay the flaws of there heroes as if they dont have flaws at all

Yeah, I know. I agree there is a bias that exists, anyone denying that in my opinion is denying reality. That's why a lot of resentment built up and part of the reason we're in a mess today. It depends what the definition of keeping it Hip Hop is, to me it's having artistic integrity and not selling out. Some people I feel are only more successful cause they are puppets and sell outs, but some deserved it. Someone like Jay Z you mentioned previously, Jay is talented, he put his work in.
