Just my two cents:

As a long time Jets fan, I would love to keep Revis. It's always nice to say you have the best position player in the league. He sells jerseys and all of that, and that's cool. Let's be real though, that means nothing if we aren't consistently winning. What's the point of having the best corner in the league if we're going to continue to miss the playoffs because of a terrible offense and a sometime-ish defense. At this point Revis is a luxury, not a necessary. We would be remiss if we didn't at least explore what we can get for him. Maybe a decent starter (doesn't have to be a superstar) and one or two draft picks. Fact is, we've got a lot of work to do and it probably will get worse before it gets better. Plus, I'm willing to bet that he holds out again and demands more money in the near future. What will have been the point then?

Again, we don't have to dump him for cheap, but shouldn't we at least see what we can get for him and see if we can't patch up some holes?

Smart man, 2 picks and a starter quality player is something you have to jump on.

As we seen this year the Jets have holes all over the field, thumping your chest about having "The GOAT corner" is counter-productive.

Yeah, no disrespect to anyone in particular, but I think most people are looking at it emotionally more than logically. They don't wanna see any homegrown guys leave, but we gotta be objective. Same way I have no objections to a player leaving if he finds a better situation elsewhere, I have no problem with a team dealing a player if they're looking forward to the future.

Now that it seems a very likely outcome, where do the Jets trade Revis to?

I`d say there has to be a few suitors for Revis, but what could you get for him coming off the injury?

Detroit Lions

Reasoning:No secondary and would instantly give the defense a shot in the arm so it could keep up with the offense.

What they could offer: The draft picks they could offer would be high ones, not much else they have is interesting though.

San Francisco 49ers

Reasoning: To add Revis could possilby make this one of the best defenses ever.

What they could offer: The draft picks would be low, but they have a lot of talent the Jets could use. Alex Smith 1/3 Corners (Brown, Rodgers, Culliver), and a good number of picks.

Kansas City Chiefs

Reasoning: Make a splash with the new regime. They already have a decent secondary, adding Revis would take them to the next level.

What they could offer: Dwayne Bowe, Tamba Hali, High Draft picks (not #1 , but their 2nd is #33 )

What do some of you guys think?

Isn't Revis a salary cap nightmare for any team including the Jets :pachaha:
That nikka ain't getting traded to shyt. He'll be dropped just like every other nikka with a big contract

What you think, he Big Ben or something?

the jets are not trading revis for alex smith. that shyt needs to stop now.

first off.. come on. REVIS FOR SMITH. nahhh

second.. alex smith is gonna make like 8 mil next year. jets aren't trying to have 16-17 mil invested into the qb position for a tandem of mark sanchez and alex smith. this thread is about how the jets can't afford revis and your answer to that problem is to pay alex smith instead.

if alex smith is cut, completely different situation.

i don't blame the jets for exploring trades.. i dunno why it had to be done so publicly and so poorly though. seems like nothing's changed.

revis should only be traded for a great selection of picks. jets have a lot of holes to fill. we need picks to fix them. 1st round picks.. 2nd round picks. a later #1 this year and their #1 next year.. if something like that comes up, you have to trade him.

if the best offer is a 3rd, then just keep revis and take your chances.

or trade him later.

acl aint that bad anymore with the advancements in medicine see AP

True, but most people don't come back like AP. It's a 50/50 chance he won't be prime Darelle Revis. And what if he isn't? Do we still shell out big money?

True but if we can block homey going to any other West team, fukk it .... Revis for Smith, its in THEIR best interest.

Revis for smith lmao that's not happening :bryan:

I like Smith and thought he played well these last two years, but I think a lot of that had to do with Harbaugh being a former quarterback himself and mentoring him and teaching him. I think he needs that type of support. We already seen that Rex Ryan is retarded when it comes to offense and more likely than not wouldn't give Smith the same attention. Silly as it sounds, I think we need a more natural talent at QB. I say we try to find a prodigy, or at least a diamond in the rough, in next year's draft

Unless you're sending us Gore & Davis, along with letting Harbaugh leave and come to NY, keep that bum ass nikka to yourselves. I've already seen how trash Smith is when he's not in the utmost perfect situation.

acl concerns are valid but i wouldnt worry. revis game isn't based on speed anyway.

jets were number 2 pass defense bc most of the time they were losing, and teams didnt have to play from behind to throw on them and they ran all over them

anyone talking money, look at this list

The 10 highest cap charges for 2013:

LB David Harris -- $13 million

QB Mark Sanchez -- $12.8 million

WR Santonio Holmes -- $12.5 million

OT Jason Smith -- $12 million

LB Calvin Pace -- $11.6 million

CB Antonio Cromartie -- $10.8 million

LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson -- $10.7 million

C Nick Mangold -- $9.1 million

CB Darrelle Revis -- $9 million

LB Bart Scott -- $8.7 million

this team can do without ALL those guys except mangold.

lastly 49ers fans: :russ: you ain't getting revis
