My Pops Forever RIP
why would the jets start vince when they just drafted geno smith?

exactly. Even if that so-called QB sucks, there's at least a long term purpose for playing him.

Nobody's looking at VY and thinking "this could be my QB for the next 5 years and maybe win me a Superbowl"

Like I said....this is not about Vince Young. This is just another instance where a black QB is given a shorter leash. Yes. There are other black QBs coming into the league and their leashes will be short as well. This has been pointed out by other black QBs such as Shaun King and Donovan McNabb. You don't believe them?

Will Terrell Pryor get as many years as Alex Smith to be a competent QB? Will Mike Vick get as many years as Romo? Will Josh Freeman get as many years as Carson Palmer? Is Geno going to get the Gabbert treatment? There's a double standard no matter how you slice it.

Pryor's not entitled to get that kind of opportunity. We don't know whether the job is his. You think they should hand it to him just cuz?

As far as Josh Freeman to Palmer, Freeman's never been as good as Palmer, so that's an unfair comparison. Palmer at his worst was still throwing for 4000 yards on the godforsaken Raiders. Now, Freeman's a guy who looks like he has everything set for him to succeed minus an elite O-Line. Stout defense, elite RB, star WR's. If he's the reason why they screw up, people will remember that.

Geno will get the Clausen treatment.

I wont argue that part TO A DEGREE. There's always been a double standard, but in VY's case it doesnt apply. He's a backup.

If Pryor puts together a very good season or two like Alex Smith, then he'll get the benefit of the doubt going forward.

Will Vick get as many years as Romo? Well, many ppl think he's Vicks been "done" the past 2 years and he's still starting....Vick came back out of prison and got a starting job again....Vicks main assest is his speed & escapability, if he loses that, then what does he have? Romo is a pocket passer, more or less

Will Geno get the Gabbert treatment? Well lets see, was Geno a high dollar draft pick? A 1st pick overall? No....so the Jags have a much better incentive of not throwing their money away by cutting or giving up on Gabbert.

ATL…overly
So black qb's don't have a shorter leash than white qb's do? I myself said VY isn't starting material so spare me with the "I read every post" bullshyt you spitting. You one of them Atl nikkas who hear people still ride for Mike Vick and not support Matt Ryan so i already know why you running in here all sensitive and emotional.

In the win or you're fired world of the NFL, why would these owners/GMs & coaches NOT play the best player possible, regardless of race? Do you really think these executives sit around like "Ya know Mike Vick is our best option, but lets play Nick Foles to perpetuate old & outdated racial stereotypes" :skip:

The Vick/Matt Ryan dynamic is a very complicated issue that does involve many different factors and would derail this thread to go into it with any detail. It is STILL a divisive issue, but a key point is that people who still support Vick aren't & werent real Falcons fans.

BTW, nobody is emotional I'm just tired of the race card getting thrown anytime a David Garrard level QB gets cut or is made a backup. shyt is annoying & tiresome

@The Fukin Prophecy , who would start Vince over Geno or EJ Manuel, TWO BLACK ROOKIE QBs? :wtf: Y'all contradicting yourselves in here AGAIN

Why do people keep bringing up Buffalo? He was just there and they cut him for Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tyler Thigpen, and Tarvaris Jackson. It's not a black thing, the guy just isn't that good.

i uderstand why many people view the plight of the black qb as a racial one, but to me its more of a bias against mobile qb's. now, that may just be a smokescreen for acutal racism, seeing as most mobile qb's are black, but i'm not sure if that's the case. i mean, 5 of the top 10 rushing qb's of all-time or white with steve young being number 2 and three of them (tarkenton, young, and elway) were all criticized at one point in time for not having the proper tools to be able to lead a team to a championship. i think that if more black or mobile qb's for that matter, come up in pro style offenses in college, they'll be better off in the pros because it will lessen the learning curve. they will probably see more zone and less one-on-one pass coverage and 8 or 9-man boxes as you see with teams that run a spread/read option or pistol formation. of course, the players in the pros are bigger, faster, and more talented, meaning every qb has an adjustment period to go through, but at least they will be familiar with zone concepts.

You need to stick to Madden. Discerning NFL talent isn't in you.
I don't care about their individual talent level.
I'm talking about all three of them are in the same situation. All were very successful in college, all got cut, and all of the have fans that think they are better than what they really are.

Good shyt, or great shyt, at the end of the day it's still shyt, and multiple nfl teams all feel the same way

I can't with the Vince Young pity party anymore. It's not worth the argument. He simply isnt that good and struggled during Paxkers practices from what I heard.

I'm just glad the Jets cut bum ass Stephen Peterman who I was bytching about all preseason because he sucked ass.

Look I :cape: for Vince Young as much as the next man. Vince may have the physical tools, but mentally he was Vince processes NFL level plays with the eye of a freshman college QB, and that is way too slow. Vince may get a job a backup but honestly I think he is done, he should pack up and play in the UFL or Canada or something, he can make a healthy buck just based on name recognition.

As for Terell Pryor, dude is gonna get his shine soon, imo. It's clear the kid has raw talent and is versatile. Even though he played bad in the last preseason game, I think he still starts week 1. This is of course assuming the Raiders coaching staff is competent.

ONLY ONE OF THOSE GUYS WAS ROOKIE OF THE YEAR & A 2 TIME PRO BOWLER.
ITS FUNNY HOW THAT GUY IS LUMPED WITH THOSE GUYS...

All three are lumped together in the " I just got cut again, and can't secure an nfl job, despite having superior talent according to my ridiculous fans" club though :manny:
