His dislike for Floyd isnt c00ning its personal
Mike-Tyson-008.jpg

LAS VEGAS – Mike Tyson created a stir Wednesday when he arrived at the Floyd Mayweather-Manny Pacquiao press conference three days before the mega-fight is set to take place.

Then the retired heavyweight champ fired verbal jabs at Mayweather, a one-time friend of Tyson’s.

Referring to Mayweather’s recent assertion that, at 47-0, he is the greatest boxer of all-time and not Muhammad Ali, Tyson said, “The guy is going around saying he is better than Ali. I don’t want to hear that (expletive).”

As the press conference was about to begin, Tyson was told he could move to the front four rows of the arena instead of his quiet seat near the back, Tyson responded: “I try to stay as far away from dirt as possible.”

Asked directly about his thoughts of Mayweather, Tyson said, “I was always told by my mother that if you can’t say anything nice about someone, don’t say nothing.”
Of his former friendship with Mayweather, with whom Tyson had a falling out for undisclosed reasons, Tyson said, “I try not to remember that.”

Tyson suggested the tension between the two made it difficult for him to appear at Wednesday’s event.

“You couldn’t believe the emotional quagmire it took for me to get in here,” Tyson said. “(Mayweather’s people) don’t like me too much.”
Tyson looked bemused after the press conference, where both fighters talked of God and praised each other.

“Coming to the press conference, it was very subtle, very nice, very polite here. It feels like I’m in, not church, but like a library, so to speak,” Tyson said. “Maybe I’m a Neanderthal. I’d want to kill the other guy.

“Boxing’s different from when I boxed. These are businessmen up there. … And I’m a natural born killer, and I want to win, I want to win in dramatic fashion, and I want to hurt people.
“I don’t like hurting people, I’m just so damn good at it.”

You're not gonna "throw punches in bunches" at a distance on Floyd. You're asking to get knocked out. That's why most people assessment of this fight sound so stupid. The guys that were able to "overwhelm" Floyd with activity were guys willing to pay the price for getting in his chest and stayed there. That's not Manny's style. Algieri was able to keep Manny's output to under 700. I wouldn't be shocked if Manny offense is stuck in mud as early as the 3rd rd. If you're viewing this fight thru the lens of Manny's offense vs Floyd's defense, then you're missing the most important part of the fight. The key factor to this fight is actually Manny's defense vs Floyd's offense. Floyd's transition outta defense into his offense is the biggest key. And judging by most people analysis, it's clear most people don't know anything about boxing.

Try and comprehend a little bit better before responding. I didn't say anything about Manny punching from distance. He is a fighter that jumps in, throws combos and gets out of range. People talk about his hand speed and punching power, but he wins most fights with superior foot speed. He destroys flatfooted fighters like Margarito and Rios. What he has a problem with is counter-punchers like Marquez that can time him when he's coming in...that's actually how he got knocked out by that overhand right. As for fighters overwhelming Floyd, that's few and far between. We saw glimpses of that in the Hatton fight when Ricky was able to put pressure on Floyd, which made him uncomfortable; Floyd was able to neutralize that early on by tying him up when he came in (we will see this tactic used a bit against Pacquiao) and later controlled him using his jab from distance.

Aside from that, the only way you would be able to 'overwhelm' Mayweather is by being a much bigger opponent, which we know Pacquiao is not. DLH was able to use his size to walk Mayweather down and throw a lot of combinations to the body, but Mayweather showed some of his best defensive skills in this fight. I maintain that Pacquiao sees quite a bit of joy against Floyd early on while he gets his timing. As I said, you don't really have a sense of how truly fast an opponent is until you get in the ring with him. There will be a lot of action in the early rounds with Pacquiao having some highlight punches, and having Floyd tying him up early on. It would not surprise me to see Floyd get caught with a good punch he doesn't see and get put in survival mode in an early round. His resilience and experience will see him through though and he will go on to dominate the fight once he figures out his timing.

That's some newbie stuff:heh:

We all know Floyd LITERALLY cant beat every man in Boxing, but he is probably the most talented man in Boxing (only Ward can argue)....which means he's the Best Boxer in the world:manny:
This is elementary level boxing knowledge
@Black_Jesus is not usually this dumb
I think he's getting a little nervous
He knows what's about to happen :russ:
