what's out of context? "should have been nipped in the bud" clearly means these protests should've been shut down so we can "get back to sports" last year, as soon as they started. nothing about this is supportive of the player's rights to protest, the only solution that's supposedly helpful to their bottom line is keeping more cac eyes on their ads and ordering pizza, black people "making a scene", and being allowed to do so is "poor leadership" :mjpls:

exactly
esp since papa johns owner has had some slick comments in this past, this was just corporate communications and public relations wording 101

Seriously? If you ignored what was quoted then :yeshrug:

Some catch that bait everytime. Tell me what media outlet has put out the statement in its entirety? It's a lot of things out there to get mad about but this ain't one of em.
What difference does it make? If you’re one to go along and call the protest in name alone and not it’s proper context, you deserve to be called out.

The situation should have never been allowed to become as huge as it did, that is the issue everyone agrees with though.
NBA showed you how to kill it before it even starts to be honest, NFL as a company should have side stepped this shyt by simply eliminating flag and pledge pre-game this season. Period.

They do that they don't even have this issue, but Goodell is too reactionary to make a move like that.

This is easy to say in theory because the NBA never took the Army's money to do this chit in the first place;
the NFL is already knee-deep in that, and the owners (who Goodell works for) don't wanna give that money back.

People quick to name Goodell as the scapegoat for everything in the NFL, but the fact is the reason he makes that money is because
can't do anything before the owners tell him to. The NFL is not a "company" - it is a body that works with 32 companies.
