It's a "Papa John's is cool again" tactic, which means more revenue for the founder (dude that stepped down).

That's all this move is tbh, just decoupling the name and product to make back their deficit.

I highly doubt this is a PR move.

It's far more likely that either his shareholders pressured him into stepping down (cuz, the stock value has taken a hit since his un-CEO like behavior started), or he's stepping down cuz the backlash has been stressful for him, so he's wanting to step away from the day-to-day.

Some of y'all put these dudes on too much of a pedal stool....even the rich and powerful can catch relative L's. This is surely one.
