The big 12 as a whole has gotten so :flabbynsick: so quickly its not even funny. Nikkas were a top conference just a few seasons ago

:mjpls:

the funny thing missouri and texas a&m barely did anything in the big 12

suddenly their both ranked in the top 15 in the good ol sec :heh:

That right there.

@jadillac Y'all are behind us in the process of changing the regime. A stellar hire and we'll have Bob out of there in 3 years.

Maybe you can get Saban.

funny thing is, we don't need him.

But if we ran our offense similar to what Bama does, we'd be in alot better shape.

We should be running out of pro-sets, lining up in the I, snapping from under center more often.

We have the talent for it. Our run blocking &run game has been great all year, but we dont stick with it.

They will score 45 on the Kansas type teams but they just aren't at a top 15 level right now nationally I see another 3-4 loss season unless they get the QB play and playcalling improved soon.
:whoa: No need to be mean

OU could get Sumlin or Mangino back :pachaha:

We're behind because we've been having good(but not great) success while y'all were doing the opposite. Stoops can keep winning 10 games every year and giving away 2 games we shouldn't lose and be just "fine". It's maddening to the fans....but you can't argue with it enough to convince the higher ups to replace him..,,,,..as opposed to Mack Brown missing bowl games and winning 7-8 games. That's alot more glaring.

Difference is, I think Bob has a lifetime contract if he wants it. You would NOT believe how much the city of Norman, the entire OU campus has changed since OU football became relevant again....and Stoops is the key agent in all of that. Money is being made hand over fist.

Another thing is, I hear Heupel is married to David Boren(OU presidents) daughter and his sister is married to Boren's son. We might be screwed if that's true :wow:

@QuintessentialBM - can u confirm if that's true?

:ohhh:
:dwillhuh:

But if we make a good hire and start dominating the conference along with winning the majority of the RRS :kanyeshrug: something will have to shake. Maybe they will promote Heupel.

First and foremost... LMAO @ this thread.......

Secondly, I'm personally not ready to throw in the towel on Stoops now because of all that we've went through to get to where we're at..... Having said that, Heupel needs to go for these reasons..... His putrid play-calling, his straight-up refusal to develop or utilize pass-catching TE's(Gresham was our last great one and even though we had James Hanna, he spent most of his career blocking) and his recruiting of QB's..... Knight and Bell are his QB and since he got his promotion to OC, his QB development has fallen all the way off. Heupel should have cut his teeth at another program but I guess this is another nepotism hire in Stoops's long history of dumb ass hires(minus his brother, Mike Stoops). Most of the OU collective are pleased up to this point with the changes Bob Stoops has made with the changes in staff. The sky isn't falling yet. We'll have to see how the rest of the season plays out before we can make any assessment, which I will say, don't look bright right now. I haven't done any assessment myself because I'm still mourning(When OU loses to Texas, it's like a funeral). I'm not sure how patient the fan base will be but he should have 2 more full seasons to get the program back on track and if next season is bad then he will be on a well deserved hot seat, IMO.

Next @jadillac I didn't know that but what you say is true then the program is f**ked long term. Boren is already sabotaging conference realignment by going against the wishes of the boosters and alumni that are pissed that we are still in the Big XII and not in the SEC, which is why Boren and Stoops keeps talking s**t about the SEC.... Boren's term will be ending soon and if Stoops wants to "retire" because he doesn't want to coach in the SEC then he can do so and OU will find another coach who will lead us. As you know, OU has no problems, unlike Texas, to put pressure on Stoops to make the hard changes because he should know that either the people we say goes... or Stoops goes.. it's that simple. So OU may be cleaning house with the next 2-3 years with a new president and HC. Stay tuned.

I agree with almost all of what you said, but the bolded is what I can't see happening

OU is in a rare position, in terms of money rolling in due to the football program, they're making more than ever before and it's been that way for over a decade now. Stoops is the face of that more or less, and is a sure thing to win 9-10 games every year. We get rid of him and hire someone else and you dont know what way things will go. Look at Tenneesse for example.....or a number of other programs who fire a successful head coach only to get worse for a long period of time.

I think the oaches at OU before Stoops were easy to get rid of, but he's about 3-4 games away from being the all-time winningest in school history. Can't exactly push him out anytime soon.

But one thing for sure, you are correct, Heupel needs to go away. Someone's gotta have his back(like Boren) b/c I don't see why Stoops hasn't slapped the playbook(or the donuts....LOL) outta his hand

one win doesn't take the stench off of underachieving this season....

and by UNDERACHIEVING i say that cause i had em in the national title game and then they did THAT against Texas and then later on Baylor. Nice way to end the season tho :myman:

Texas played the same way against us that we played against Bama. They played the best game they possibly could. Case McCOy was dropping perfect throws in like he'd never done before. They hit almost every thing right. Nobody saw it coming.......and then of course nobody saw Baylor coming either

Too many overall injuries for us to get to the national title this year, our QB's kept getting hurt, and it took 3/4 of the season for them to understand things.

But in terms of impact/image, beating Alabama is as close as possible to winning a national title. :wow:

We didnt win the national title but we came thru. It's like the double-switch, Stone Cold/Bret at WM 13. We're Stone Cold breh....we didnt win the nat. title(or even a conf title), but I think we won in the end.

:wow:

Nope, not at all.

All I said was we dont need Nick Saban....and we don't. And I said we needed to run the football more, and we did following the date I made this thread.

I think I made this after the Texas loss and what I saw in that game was bad coaching, bad gameplanning and not using ur strengths of what ur built for. If we couldnt see the obvious, then maybe it was time time flat-top Bob. lol

Following that, this team went on to be the best rushing team(most yards) Bob Stoops has ever had.
