its at the point where Rappers are arguing with the radio stations ... just like how athletes were arguing with the analysts ..
both analysts and radio stations serve as middle men n liasons to get content to the general audience .. but both have their own agenda and wanna be stars ...
Thats why you have skip bayless lying like he was a big point guard back in the day. Ebro saying he loves the attention that ppl scrutinizing this situation brings ..
yes they are doing it for ratings .. but softens the culture ... you start focusing on all these sideshows than the music itself.
Being a DJ I know that .. I will never be bigger than the artist .... I shouldn't aim to be either .... I bring the music to the people that I feel is good and if they react or not decides if they like me.
Hot 97 always does that though .. we had angie making garbage songs ... flex thinking he was in a rap beef when going at power 1051 ... rosenberg thinking he legitimately can go toe to toe with artist by dissing her on a performance stage .. not on his radio show .. but on a stage where she is going to perform ..
This is a new age now .. with so many new rappers coming up ... Radio disc jockeys and personalities are bigger than most of these rappers.
Like Charlemagne said once .. "I learnt long time ago .. radio personalities and djs will be here wayyy longer than artists.. " and thats true career wise because its not a fad .. its not a trend .. these are necessary people to bring you the music and the culture. However it has gotten to many ppls head where they think the artist is a sideshow to whatever act they got going on.
Kendrick goes on power1051 and they barely talk about his music .. they try to twist him into their own agenda .. shyt nicki called them out for it .. she goes up there and they dikk ride her and not even listens or watches her videos or songs. Trinidad James goes to hot 97 and they dont even listen to his tape. They brought him up there off 1 song .. he asks them did you listen to my other content?? Rosenberg says no .. but yet he has an agenda to call him out .. which makes worldstar/youtube viral hits and takes off..now who did that benefit? benefit the radio station and now u think trinidad james is a bigger c00n than before. Nothing to do with music.
The internet removes all that for the most part. You got Ebro claiming hot 97 made asap rocky hot ... how can that be??? when I first heard about him on college radio (basically underground radio) & through blogs and forums like the-coli & sohh .. I didn't hear a Asap rocky on commercial radio until goldie which spun a few times and now "f*ckin problem"
everyone needs to realize their role and just
pump their breaks.
