No one was paying that inflated price so out the gate Paramount looked at their offers as lowball numbers.
Bottom line is that BET/VH1 aren’t worth 3 billion and both networks have destroyed their legacy IP over the last 20 years so it’s not like the stuff from the 90s could be looked at like this value selling point.
BET is still salvageable but they’d have kill it when it comes to original programming and flat out bring on better shows. They need an “Atlanta” and a “Luke Cage” type show out the gate and simply have to lock someone like Ava Duvernay into an exclusive deal.
Meanwhile, make VH1 the youth channel and show videos and exclusive singer/rapper content and don’t put any of it on social media. And if it gets uploaded, have it reported instantly and taken down.
So simple yet they pay muthafukkers $200k for hi-level analysis like this
