I've heard this phrase before...Do you believe that a parent can rear their child(ren) wrong, and end up ruining their minds for life?

I personally believe that one should be able to apply the parent's teachings/beliefs to reality and see if it adds up....

Happens more often than you think, from teaching them outdated and bigoted ideologies, to cursing them out like they're someone off the streets for every little thing, or even having them identify as another gender as young as 5 years old when the kid doesn't even know what the oppisite sex has in their pants let alone what to do with it besides make yellow snow. Children are sponges and some things that parents do or don't do can reflect on how they grow up, their difficulties, and how they deal with society.

this reminds me of one of my cousins.

She grew up the youngest in a family of boys.

I remember when she was little, they had trouble potty training her because she would stand there and hold her belly button between her fingers and pee down her legs.

Years later, she's grown and a butch lesbian. The entire family was shocked.

I was like :mindblown: what the fcuk you think was gonna happen!?

note: no, I'm not saying or claiming that Lesbianism or being gay is a "mistake" or a negative consequence to bad parenting.

Hell, something as "innocent" as constantly praising your child's intelligence can mess them up later on.

Rare is the child that stays ahead of the curve intelligence wise. Sometimes, they really may just be learning what they should and at their own pace. People will confuse it as "genius", because in their minds, the only way to learn something is the way it's taught in school.

When that child gets older and the curve flattens on them, life becomes that much harder because you've taught them that they're a GENIUS and because they're so smart that everything will be SO EASY.....

Parenting really is a tight rope made of dental floss.
