See.. rationally, they would've thought ahead of the consequences, and probably just released strongly worded statements. But these people aren't exactly known for tact and foresight. Knee jerk overreactions appear to be the standard MO.. and I don't think they care about acceptance or reputation either. They simply seek to further their agenda and spread what THEY see as righteousness.
If there's one thing we can applaud them for, it's their dedication and loyalty. Don't think for a second I'm caping though

Foreign Muslims are too stomp down in their religious beliefs, argue with their methods and beliefs, but character wise they seem to have way more heart and principle than most people in the world (especially the West).

More hate? How much more hate can you generate than 100s of thousands of muslims dying yearly because of the actions of the West, then the West basically saying
"shyt happens" and instigating more shyt.They believe the West is at war with Islam, that the West wants to destroy Islam aka them. Don't be suprised when humans react violently when faced with oppression.
If anything they want to the hate to become stronger so hopefully more Muslims feel the same as them, because a full blown Islam versus the West war is not something that the U.S. and it's allies can win, Islam is the biggest religion on earth.
