I remember everyone complaining about that part of the game, but I hit my groove with it and learned to love that mission.

My vote goes to that damn lightning strike 100 times in Final Fantasy X.

Also, having to beat 100 missions in Bayonetta in order to get the Gun Chucks was very overkill to me too. I did that after about beating about 6 levels and it made finishing the game a bit more of a chore than it would have otherwise IMO.
