keep in mind that 40 perecnt of americans cant pull together $400 for an emergnecy, let alone a vacation. I think numbers get to almost 60% not being able to string $1000.00 . So to be honest, 2k is almost fairy tale status for most poeple in the richest country on earth. Probabaly took months of savings just to get the 2k for the trip to Brazil , and this doesnt count the new bank account requirement.

If not for credit, our society wouldve collapsed like London Bridge right after Reagan's term.



Personally, i see it more of an indictment on the society , not so much the individual. In america you got folks working 3 jobs or forced into studying themselves into "super-physicist-engineer-medical-astronaut-extraordinaires" just to live a good life. But ive heard legends of mystical lands, far-far away named "Denmark" , "Sweden" , "austria" or "NewZealand" where folks can just work a single nontechnical job and have excess while meeting their needs.
