Pat Riley is REAL. Phil is the poster boy for white passive aggressiveness and why black folks can't stand white people they work for or work with. Phil moves in a weak, spineless way if there's in-house issues...Pat will straight up let a nicca know what time it is. For the most part NBA players respect that shyt...except Bron...but Bron is a passive aggressive dude himself.

The Knicks job was a cashgrab for Phil. He begrudgingly took that gig because it was too much money to turn down. Say what you will about Riley, he knows how to keep things classy and not embarrass players in public. Even tho he felt like writing a Dan Gilbert-like letter to Bron, cooler heads prevailed and he handled it as professionally as any team president could handle that situation. Even the seemingly bitter breakup with Wade quickly blew over, and it seems like only a matter of "when" and not "if" wade will put on a heat jersey again.

Why did that work for pat but not for Phil :francis:

I know Phil won more titles but I would have thought with him being in New York with money for the cap it would have gone the same way like it did for Phil :yeshrug:

Im thinking players pay attention to they way Phil talks and attempts to toss players under the bus

pat does it too but not like Phil :ehh:
Not to sound like screaming a but phil gave zero effort.

Lets keep it 100....Wade fell into Riley's lap when the pistons drafted Darko Milicic.Had that never happen, miami would still be a ringless franchise.

phil is overrated, he coached the best team of all time and the best duo of all time

pat riley when he had no showtime lakers anymore he still coached his teams really well making that transition from offense to gritty defense like 90s knicks and then he coached pretty well in miami also

and his GM work is solidified

phil dont have tex winters running his schemes anymore

so what we doing phil?

full

triangle?

It's really about their coaching styles. Phil is zenith and laid-back. Pat is intense and on it.

It's really about the type of players you get to buy into your system. If Carmelo and Porzingis had to play for a guy like Riley,Carmelo would've waived his no trade clause and Porzingis would try to get himself deported or something

Like Dion Waiters said, even the way Riley says 'world class' is world class. Phil don't have that kind of aura about him.
Could not have said it better.
