They never asked for ID. In fact the police report contradicts the video because the former makes no mention of requesting ID. The latter shows the officer stating he requested ID when justifying his actions to neighbors and Patrick when in fact he had not. Also of note, notice the look of horror on the officer's face when they open his wallet and realized he's not the guy they were looking for.
Beyond that, notice how completely warped in the mind the officer was in stating that Patrick looked similar to the suspect they were after. The neighbors stated emphatically that the two bore absolutely no resemblance and when the video editor showed both photos, you can see even more so badly the officers fukked up royally.
I will say this as I agree with you somewhat, it is important for Black men to really be careful when interacting with police. I'm glad Patrick is still among the living cuz that could have ended bad. I dont know when this happened, so if it was after the recent shootings, maybe some officers are making an effort to refrain from shooting us. Or maybe these officers just arent on that tip, I dont know. But its scary as hell.
