Peterson is nowhere near Sherman's level.
Crabtree absolutely sons Peterson while Sherm basically locks him down.
Peterson is one of them dudes who is truly climbing on the over-rated list. But he is taking Sherman's own corny methodology of talking yourself into prominence and using it against him here.

I've heard a Cover 2 corner or Zone corner but never heard someone get called a Cover 3 corner
All Peterson is saying when he says cover 3 corner, is that Sherm only plays one side of the field. Cover 3 is just DB's and the FS each cover a third of the deep field(Left Right Middle). The other safety plays down to near the linebackers to take away check downs and such(It is a little more complicated then that but that is the gist).

they use a cover 3 because they can, they got the safety coverage to do so

cover 3 is a single high safety look in which the field is divided into 3 parts with the safety covering the middle of the field and the right and left corner being responsible for the sides. cover 3 only works because Earl Thomas is such a spectacular center fielder. i think the reason some of these corners don't have respect for Sherm is because their scheme is alot more dependent on Earl Thomas's greatness than Sherman.
if Seattle had even a good rather than great free safety, they wouldn't be able to run that cover 3 look as much as they do in games. and Earl Thomas also makes Kam Chancellor look good cause he gets to play in the box where he's effective rather than covering receivers up the middle of the field.

Yup. Earl is the one who makes that D work. That's not to say Sherm is not a good corner. But you can't run cover 3 without a great FS. And like you said above, a lot DB's taking shots at sherm, likely has to do with that Seattle's scheme only works if you have Earl.

This. We see the games they play. It'd be one thing if Joe Haden or even Revis was taking swipes at Sherm, but not gotdamn Patrick Peterson.
