I have been out of the Football circuit for the minute. However, last time I saw he was called The Dab Merchant and struggled to recapture his form from Juventus. Considering he was being expected to be integral as Mordic was/is to Madrid's Midfield. Did this change? I won't lie as a Liverpool supporter Eric Bailey, Pogba and Martial are the sauce.
Mourinho plays "anti-football" so it was expected that he wouldn't be the same Pogba from Juventus. He's a great player but United just didn't have a great team, Mourinho insisted in playing him in a 4-2-3-1 in the beginning which limited his creativity since he had to track back more than he was used to and he was also playing too far from the box, I think he adjusted later on in the season but Mourinho started using 3 in the middle too with Herreia, which helped him a lot.
At Juventus he was good but never worth 100 million, he was arguably their "worst" midfielder, people was unfairly expecting him to be something he never was just because of the fee (which was "shady" since both him and United were from Adidas and Juventus had just signed a deal with them that same season).

Back at Juve there was talk he was going to learn under Pirlo and become a Midfield Maestro. To me he was always a Box to Box who had elements of an Attacking Mid, above average dribbling skills and good technical understanding of the game. He was never physically bullied and stands 6'1 or 6'2 plus had learnt the English game. Honestly, he isn't BITW player but I'd figured he'd be Top 2 in Prem (only behind Hazard). In a couple of years I was thinking he could make Man United his own.
