It seems like the Mexican physician Paul Rodriguez was playing said a bunch of racist stuff to Will Smith and Paul didn't do a good enough job letting Will know that he was not cool with it so Will took it out on Paul. Not justifying it but I get it.

Will opted not to work with her because she wouldn’t budge when he was trying to get her to interact with the cast. The whole cast has said this. He was trying and trying and even the writers were getting annoyed. She was being difficult because she had a chip on her shoulder. She also just took up for Will in this recent issue with Chris Rock. Alfonso n a few others on the cast flat out called her crazy. Will was a young man and he looked at it for what it was. She was being difficult. But Will being Will. He takes everything and blames himself for everything. This is the story of his life at this point.

telling this story on a podcast is understandable cause that's the nature of this platform.....but to go to a sleezy media company like inside edition is just hoe-ish to me....he shoulda declined that cause they have an agenda after the slap

So Paul he got the part because of Will Smith but then that Pacheco guy screwed it all up with his drinking and Will felt betrayed somehow (right or wrong) and didn't believe Paul or just didn't even care at that point. I can't really fault Will too much because Pacheco called him the N word and Will didn't want Pacheco represented in the movie at all which is completely understandable. However, he couldn't be more mature with Paul or Paul still wanted his lines in the movie and it was just too late at that point. That Pacheco guy did the real damage though and Will probably saw them as buddies or there could be more to the story that's left out. Some people said Paul sided with the doctor in some situation which would explain Will's anger toward Paul.
Paul also going to Inside Edition and giving this testimony is also showing his weak character too because Pacheco is most at fault and killed the good vibes and trust between them.
