People really got to start start looking up what "employment at will" means and how companies don't have to give you an explanation for why you're being let go. HR was totally correct in their comment that nothing or any explanation they would have given would have made her feel better about the situation.

You can either dwell on it or try and pick up the pieces and move forward as a lot of us have or will experience layoffs at least once in our lifetime.

Sounds like maybe people should make this a campaign issue and vote for people to change these laws.
And it sounds like they should support unions to protect workers.

Sounds like she's just pointing out their bullshyt excuses for terminating her to me. If you over hired just say dat.

Yet companies want to give you the 3rd degree when you quit. And demand you give 2 weeks notice fukk all that. Loyalty is a 2 week street.
Which is why you should always do what’s best for you and your career at the end of the day.

And read reviews before accepting a job. I am sure there were tons of them out there with people saying this exact thing happened to them. Sounds like one of those jobs where you have absolutly no security in and is a revolving door.

This was hopefully her wake up call.


Even white women can get put in a blender for whatever reason they want to give.
One of the many reasons why I don’t buy into the “were a team, yay teamwork” nonsense these jobs promote

At-will employment is one of the hardest pills ever.

We can fire you at any time for any reason, but if you quit you need to tell us two weeks ahead of time, during which we may still elect to fire you for any reason.

Meanwhile, we’ll pay you just enough so that you have to come in for 50 weeks out of the year, and don’t forget to sign up for 30 years of debt payments of half your take home pay for a home you may not need, because like we said before you may be fired at any moment and have to relocate for a new job.

And the barely-enough money we paying you, we’re going to tax the hell out of it to pay for a bunch of shyt that doesn’t benefit you in any way.

Also, don’t get old, because we’re going let you go right before we’re obligated to pay out that bare-bones retirement plan we hustled fees on for decades, or we’re just going to age discriminate and not hire you in the first place.

Don’t get sick or have a kid while you’re working for us either because you’ll have to cover your share of that, even though we take insurance out of your check. And each insurance is separate so if you want your eyes taken care of so you can see then that’ll be extra.


But, that’s the system we have. :manny:
