I don't just know Jamaican people or culture.
I am a product of it. Full blooded Jamaican. Both sides.
I never said they were uncommon. You are moving the goal post. I said they are not looked greatly upon. That is fact.
It doesn't matter how many 20 or 30 something year olds are rocking it. When it is time to go professional, or be taken seriously, dem dutty natty sing ting deh gon get cut OFF. Why? Because it is looked down upon. Simple.
Im just confused because you can find dreadlocks in every sector of Jamaican society, even in government. Just like tattoos in America, they’re slowly become accepted as the older generations lose grip on what’s acceptable. Which was my entire original point. We’re almost talking in circles because I even agreed that the pompous bougie older Jamaicans may think they’re unprofessional. But it does matter what the youth do because they take over once it’s all said and done.
Edit: you know what, I looked at your original statement again and I do agree with it but at the same time that’s a small section of Jamaican people. The majority of Jamaicans I still believe have no negative opinion about the hairstyle, especially if they are well kept
