Yea im a bsr 1 rep for comcast. Cable isnt going anywhere until there's a netflix for sports lol

And honestly if it comes down to it comcast will just charge for data like the cell phones do. We in the best position possible breh cause we get all this shyt for free:wow:
I think cable Tv will die a long slow death. Eventually we'll reach a la carte streaming services for everything. The sports leagues will probably sell very expensive packages directly to the consumers because at that point TV deals will be no more.

A la carte will devastate TV. You'll have people who will only pay for channel x during the fall season when their favorite show is showing because it isn't a forced bundle and drop it the rest of the year. Content makers are gonna lose a shyt load of money stuff like ESPN will probably die off if the leagues sell direct unless it can evolve into just a sports commentary channel and still get decent buys.

Bandwidth caps will become more common and more restrictive as MSOs attempt to reclaim the lost revenue of cable TV dying.

I for one don't want a la carte. It's gonna be a nightmare.

This will just make internet providers raise the prices even more, in America at least .

I'm seeing more and more people get those Android TV boxes that get you free tv. Like 500 channels

There are millions of people who don't watch sports but pay for stuff like ESPN because it's baked into their cable or satellite subscriptions. When everybody gets to choose their channels like that many of the people who pay for them now will choose not to and the people that do pay for them will have their rates raised to compensate.

Imagine a world where every channel has their own HBO Now style streaming service for $15ish a month for just that channel.you could easily pay $60 a month for 4-8 channels when you pay that now and get over 100.

A la catre sounds nice because people think they'll pay less and they will but for paying less they'll get next to nothing. If everybody gets to choose whole networks would die off because not enough people would sub and that ad revenue would vanish and the major networks like NBC Universal, ABC/ESPN, and Viacom when the lose several channels and the ad revenue they got from them who will be the ones to make that up?
I actually agree with you for the most part. But they will still be selling bundled cable packages as well.

Its odd because CRTC is going to have sit down with all the cable companies plus the networks and hammer out individual pricing.

More options is never a bad thing but there could be a lot of adverse affects like youve listed.

You can bet a lot of eyes are going to be on how this goes over in Canada to see how it shakes out.

Just be careful as a consumer. Because all that shid added up equals cable money anyway. I just have XB1, passwords for premium, pay for hulu plus and that's pretty much all you need. All the extra hacking and buying hardware is unnecessary IMO.

We've got that directv stimulus package :wow: it's expensive but worth it. I can't lie I've thought about cutting it and sticking with Hulu/Netflix but I love sitcoms and I don't like the wait for them to stream it :francis:
