How was it the right call when he had it in one hand...knee hit the ground...elbow hit the ground...then ball hits the ground and moves it...

When the exact same thing happens to a running back...knee down...elbow down...ball hits ground and he fumbles...they always say he was down before the fumble...

So how is Dez not down when his knee and elbow hit the ground while he is holding the ball with the other hand?

Ball clearly does move when it hits the ground...no question about that..but it is NOT like the Calvin Johnson play where Calvin caught it and the first thing that hit the ground was the ball...

Not why they lost the game though they lost when murray fumbled and bailey missed that field goal

I don't make the rules bruh....gotta complete the catch :yeshrug:

But he did complete the catch...by virtue of controlling the ball with one hand while his knee and elbow was down...

The only other way to look at it is saying "his knee and elbow being down doesn't make him down" but we all been watching way to much football to even go that route...

It is what it is...Dallas had their chances...refs been horrible all playoffs so you put yourself in that position this is the type of stuff that happens :manny:

Because the RB is not making a reception. You're arguing the rules of a fumble in comparison to a reception. He can't use the ground to stabilize the ball in the process of completing a reception. Even if you believe it to be him stretching out, the ball hit the ground and rolled up and out his hand while trying to complete a football move. Had it just hit the ground and NOT popped up then it can be argued it was a catch. The fact that it did means it hit the ground and he gained control as he was rolling AFTER the fact. I didn't like the call 2 seasons ago with CJ, and I don't like it now but it was the right call. You can't use the ground THEN lose it all in the same motion of a reception.

His knee and elbow being down doesn't stop the play, he still gotta complete the catch. I'm not a fan of the rule and never have been, but there been a ton of "catches" overturned because of this rule and this situation was no different.

The shyt is pretty simple. And honestly while I originally didn't like the call years ago with CJ. This one is making it more clear to me why the rule is there. It's to remove all subjectivity out of it. When I watched it never crosses my mind that Dez was intentionally stretching the ball out as some people are arguing, I understand that argument but it provides way too much subjectivity on the behalf of the ref. When a ref makes a call, it should not be subjective and up for interpretation. There needs to be clearly defined rules in place and in this case there is. There's a process when a WR is making a catch and simultaneously falling to the ground and in that process they can't let the ball touch the ground and lose control of the ball in order to establish possession.
