Deontay Wilder Weighs In 23-Plus Pounds Lighter For Helenius Than For 3rd Fury Fight

Deontay Wilder felt “a little sluggish, a little heavy” when he came in at a career-high 238 pounds for his third fight against Tyson Fury.

The former WBC heavyweight champion made an adjustment accordingly during his recently completed camp to make sure he’ll feel as close to his old self as possible when he boxes Robert Helenius on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. The 6-foot-7 Wilder stepped on the New York State Athletic Commission’s scale Friday morning at 214½ pounds, 23½ pounds lighter than what he weighed the day before Fury knocked him out in the 11th round of their third championship match last October 9 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Wilder’s weight Friday was more in line with what he weighed for his first fight against Fury (212½ pounds) in December 2018 at Staples Center in Los Angeles. Wilder floored Fury twice, but that bout resulted in a 12-round split draw.

The 6-foot-6 Helenius out-weighed Wilder by nearly 40 pounds Friday. Helenius officially weighed 253¼ pounds, still much lighter than Fury when he defeated Wilder 53 weeks ago (277 pounds).

The 12-round bout between Wilder, 36, and Helenius, 38, will headline a FOX Sports Pay-Per-View show. Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs), of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is listed by most sportsbooks as an 8-1 favorite to beat Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs), of Mariehamn, Finland.

The official weights for the entire Wilder-Helenius undercard are listed below.

I legit wasn't going to get this card but I think I am for no other reason than the Direll/Plant fight.

These muhfukkas really don't like each other. :heh:
Unfortunately Plant is catching him @ right time...Dirrell is washed.

I'm the greatest, something like Ali in his prime
Wilder by early to mid round stoppage, however if Helenius lands clean it'll be interesting to see what's left of him after his third fight with Fury.

Plant should box circles around Dirrell considering he's washed. But if Dirrell can drag him into a dog fight, I could see him beating Plant.
