So what happens when a newly immigrated African wants to be called African American - you explain to them why they’re not that?

Why would a newly immigrated African want to be called an African American, rather than a Nigerian, Jamaican, Haitian, Ethiopian, Somalian, etc.? They usually indicate what country they are from and do not claim an entire continent like African Americans do, because a typical African American has ancestry from West, Central and Southeast Africa. Hence why they are called African Americans.

It doesn't matter anyway because as of the 2020 Census; Black people in the USA including immigrants will have to identify their exact origins, because crackers are clearly tired of Black people claiming to be African Americans that are not actually African Americans.

And this is the problem. The african chick has a country of origin or decent tied to a specific nation in Africa but still felt the need to go with AA. She could have been more specific.

There needs to be enforcement on properly hyphenating.

You can see the enforcement already starting with the 2020 Census. They are clearly laying the groundwork for what is going to be happening in universities and for employment purposes; otherwise there would be no need to ask for the origins of Black people on the Census forms.
